Our Portfolio at Liv|in' Past

Virtual models of historical buildings and archaeological finds are increasingly becoming a fixed component of todays media presentation. The sheer technical possibilities that even the simplest Smartphones provide today are enormous. This not only offers vast design options, but also a growing market into which more and more companies from a wide variety are pushing in.

But especially when it comes to working digitally on historical "objects", a comprehensive, scientifically sound analysis and research is extremely important. This is the only way to guarantee that the images finally presented, provide a high level of historical probability. Since many viewers perceive these - often very imposing - images as historical reality we, as developers and designers of these "historical" models, have an immense responsibility!

Unfortunately, many companies forego this mostly very time-consuming work or do simply not have the human resources at their disposal. In order to meet exactly these requirements our team consists of renowned archaeologists, building researchers, architects, graphic artists and educators with almost 20 years of experience. In addition to their daily work in research and practice, our employees have focused on digital 3D (re‑)construction of historical landscapes, buildings and artefacts.

We offer scientifically based visualisations instead of superficial imposing speculation!

Fragments, Findings & Exhibits

Much of what is presented in museums and collections today has not survived time unharmed and important parts are often missing to provide a real restoration.

However, digital reconstruction offers an opportunity here: after thorough research missing fragments can be added virtually to the original appearance. Therefore, it becomes easier to convey the historical meaning, function and artistic value to the visitor.

Historic Buildings & Life Worlds

The fascination that historical ruins can exert on their visitors is undisputed and the question "How did it look like in the past?" is omnipresent.

The digital "restoration" of varied construction phases and development stages of historical buildings or even entire landscapes is the focus of our work and expertise - while taking the highest level of scientific plausibility into account.

Historic Technology & Functionality

It often makes sense to present historical objects or machines in motion in order to make their functionality more comprehensible.

Therefore we are not only offering static reconstructions. We also fill the entire arsenal of historical technology with new "life" - from a straight-forward animated explanatory model to an interactively controllable digital replica with fire, smoke and explosion!

Revitalisation Models

It is not uncommon that many revitalization projects which are dealing with historical environment endanger the existing building parts even in advance.

For such sensitive projects it is important to assess the extent and effect of planned construction measures early. A photorealistical, digital visualisation is able to do this WITHOUT disturbing the historical environment, and therefore plays a crucial role.

Projects Accompanying An Excavation

We know from our own experience that a real-time visualisation of an ongoing excavation campaign can often provide important conclusions for more detailed investigations onsite at a later time.

Therefore, we offer a digital "excavation accompaniment" - even over serveral years - which can be supplied and interpreted from our renowned archaeologists and building researchers.

Character Design & Animation

Every lively historical scene includes people in accurate clothing and with adequate equipment. Most scenes even come with different animals.

Therefore, we offer appropriately researched character models, which - upon request - may be "brought to life" as well. We can also design individual characters as "mascots" for exhibitions or to be used in video clips and animations.

Our Products at Liv|in' Past

Planning and "building up" our digital reconstruction models are "only" the important basis of a project. Even the most detailed and well-researched model is nothing without adequate presentation to the viewer. Hence it is equally important to deal with the question of how to set up the final rendering and which is the appropriate media to use.

In addition to the classic portfolio of single images and animation clips we also offer more complex forms of digital presentation for use with a wide variety of media solutions. Based on the possibilities given through up-to-date technology and the performance parameters of today's hardware products (smartphone, tablet, PC, console, etc.) we provide you with the entire portfolio of interactive VR (virtual reality), AR (augemented reality) and Game engine technology to impressively stage the models created for you.
